Ganon's Castle is a hint region of varying scope in OoTMM. It is found in Ocarina of Time.

The scope of this hint region changes based on the the Extra Hint Regions setting:

  • When disabled, Ganon's Castle and Ganon's Castle Tower form one hint region known as Ganon's Castle. There is therefore no such hint region as Ganon's Castle Tower.
  • When enabled, Ganon's Castle and Ganon's Castle Tower are two separate regions.

Within this article, we treat Ganon's Castle and Ganon's Castle Tower as two separate regions. As such the article reserves information about Ganon's Castle Tower for its own article.

The vanilla game may also refer to these areas as Inside Ganon's Castle.

Scope

When Ganon's Castle and Ganon's Castle Tower are treated as separate hint regions:

  • Ganon's Castle encompasses the entry hallway, the main hub room and each of the 'Trials' that spoke off from the hub.
  • Ganon's Castle Tower encompasses the central 'staircase climb' area that, in the vanilla game, is only accessible once the Trials have been completed.

Note that to move from Ganon's Castle to Ganon's Castle Tower, you have to cross a loading zone to a new scene rather than merely a doorway or dark transition to another room in the same scene.

Strats

Trials Skip

The Ganon Trials event setting controls which trials, if any, need to to be completed to access Ganon's Castle Tower. In the even that trials need to be completed, they can be skipped with several different methods

Trials Skip with Misplaced Loading Zone

In the central hub room, there is a misplaced loading zone to Ganon's Castle Tower on the central wall. If Link can get into the correct position, this will warp Link to Ganon's Castle Tower.

Armos Collision

Refer primarily to the video guide; these note relate to some of the stickier points of execution.

It is probably worth following the video's exact Armos positioning, since the Silver Rupee is deceptively high.

This strat uses a rare simultaneous initiation of ISG and Ground Jump, which can be performed as follows:

  1. Use the regular approach for getting ISG with a bomb: place it in front of you and then interrupt a crouch stab by pressing A.
  2. As Link holsters his sword, press and hold Target whilst continuing to hold Shield.

If, as Link holsters his sword, it does not have the ISG 'glow', then you have failed to get ISG.

Before starting the ground jump, it is worth adjusting Link's position on the Armos to ensure that the jump goes high enough to collect the Silver Rupee. Link's starting height for the ground jump depends on his position on the Armos. The visual model of the Armos is deceptive of its true collision. Roughly speaking, between the horns seems to be the highest point. Link's feet may not necessarily be a good height indicator due to the way his feet snap to the visual model of the Armos.

ISG is useful here because, with similar methods of getting ground jump with a bomb, the explosion will push Link off the Armos.

Pay attention to the input display; it may clarify some of the setup that takes place when Link is obscured by the armos.

The guide appears to use Kokiri Sword during setup. If Deku Stick movement differs, perhaps this setup may not work [Please add deku stick setup if one can be made/found β€’ Edit Article]

From the video description:

Move the Armos statue 15 times toward the Beamos to get the correct position. Taking damage from the Beamos when jumping from the statue is not necessary, but seems to make this setup more consistent.

From the video description:

Dealing with this armos is a pain in the ass. It's an actor, so it pushes you around, and this room isn't aligned to the coordinate system so finding setups is also a pain. This works most of the time, and feels fairly lenient. Dealing with the beamos is also a pain, but you should be able to do this without deku nuts, meaning this is a master sword only strat."

This setup can be difficult to execute. It seems that a key part of this setup is getting the camera to turn by the correct amount. Notice carefully in the video guide that the camera stops moving and then nudges over slightly more. That extra nudge might be vital to the setup.

From the video description:

You must be pretty far away from the stairs when you superslide or you will get the wrong angle. Quickly release z during superslide and just hold up on control stick and R. If you fall out of bounds instead of landing you may have released z too late.

πŸ“„ Text Guide

Repeatedly (on the order of 15-50 times) reloading the main hub room via rooms such as Spirit Trial or the Scrub/Fairy Fountain can cause parts of Ganon's Castle to fail to load. This includes the Light Trial Block.

Unfortunately, as a side effect, other important parts of Light Trial will fail to load. So even after performing the glitch, some, many or all checks may be unavailable.

Another problem with this glitch is that it is reliant on how OoT is handling memory. OoTMM seems to affect how OoT handles memory, so guides that state 'reload the room X times' are likely to be inaccurate to OoTMM.

From the video description:

there's now a really easy golden gauntlet skip setup in fire trial :

  • climb on the left side of the platform ( just like in the video)
  • do a 2 or 3 right ess turn
  • sidehop sideroll with hoverboots and hold up at the same time ( or up one frame after)

if you have some trouble getting it to work there's my inputs displayed at the top of the video.

EDIT: so after more testing, the sideroll is actually frame perfect, if you pause buffering it, it's the 2nd frame where link is landing.

Also 3 frames ess turn seems a bit sloppy and need some ajustement on the direction to hold depending where you climb the platform ( here I hold just up, but you could also need to hold up + a little bit to the left). (tl:dr stick to the 2 frames ess turn as it's much more consistent.)
