Outside Ganon's Castle is an area in OoTMM (as named by the spoiler log). As a Hint Region, the area is instead named Ganon's Castle Exterior. The in-game entrance overlay calls this area Ganon's Castle.

For absolute clarity: this article is in reference to the overworld region that connects to Hyrule's Market and contains the entrance to the Ganon's Castle Dungeon via the Rainbow Bridge. It is found in Ocarina of Time.

Except for warp glitches, this is an Adult-only location. If Child Link tries to enter this area via loading zones, he will instead find himself at Hyrule Castle.

Ganon's Castle Exterior GS - Collecting the Token With No Items

Logic

✔️ This strat cannot be used to break logic.

There are a few items you can use to kill this Skulltula which can break logic. Nonetheless, logic does not demand an easy method for collecting this token after the Skulltula has been killed. Therefore, using this strat to collect the token does not break logic - but the item that you used to kill it might.

Once the Gold Skulltula has been killed, there are several ways to collect its token without using items:

• Sidehop Method: Directly face the grey archway wall. Now press and hold target. Slowly strafe to the top of the sharply inclined floor. At or near the top, sidehop to the right.
• Backflip Method: Position yourself at/near the top of the sharply inclined floor next to the grey archway wall. Turn with your back to the token. Now backflip. (Should you find that Link backs off the cliff before jumping, you may find pause buffering the backflip helpful)
• Dropdown Method: (slow) It's possible to get on top of the archway by walking up the shallowest part of cliffs next to the archway. From there you can fall down to the token. The easiest method to fall safely is probably:
  1. From on top of the archway, face away from the ledge.
  2. Press and hold target, then backwalk over the ledge. Link should grab the ledge as he falls.
  3. From there you can press A to fall if you are happy with your position. (The camera angle may be unhelpful.)

It is also possible, from a sharp angle, to get a normal jump against the wall that drifts over to the token, but this method might be hard and/or inconsistent.

Jumpslashing is another method to collect the Skulltula; this is similar to the sidehop and backflip methods, but unlike those methods requires an item.

Logic

⚔️ This strat can be used to break logic, unless the Ganon's Great Fairy with Age Swap and without Gold Gauntlets trick is enabled. Only when this trick is enabled may the player be expected to achieve these ends with these items.

Age swapping in a Great Fairy Fountain and then exiting doesn't break logic. Thus:

• If Link can age swap (via SoT) and has access to Outside Ganon's Castle, he also has access to Hyrule Castle
• If Link can age swap (via SoT) and has access to Hyrule Castle, he also has access Outside Ganon's Castle.

The only exception to this is using this ability to bypass the Gold Gauntlets block in front of Adult's Great Fairy Fountain. Therefore the trick's logic only affects the 'Great Fairy Defense Upgrade' check (also known as the 'Great Fairy outside of Ganon's Castle').

There is a Great Fairy Fountain connected to the Hyrule Castle region and a second Great Fairy Fountain connected to Outside Ganon's Castle. Despite seemingly being geographically proximate, these are two different fairy fountains. Thus, even if one swaps age with Age Change upon Song of Time, one still remains with the same fairy fountain. After age swap, it is possible to leave the fountain, but one is not transported to the 'wrong' version of the 'Castle' map for the respective age. For example, you can't use age swap to give Child Link access to Outside Ganon's Castle.

It is possible, however; to use age change and abuse positioning of the Gold Gauntlets Block to allow Adult Link to get inside Adult's Great Fairy Fountain without Gold Gauntlets.

To do this:

1. Start as Child Link
2. Enter the Great Fairy Fountain in the Hyrule Castle region.
3. Once in the Fountain, now use age swap to become an adult.
4. Walk close to the loading zone that exits the Fairy Fountain.
5. Walk very slowly over the loading zone to trigger Link's exit.
   • If done correctly, Adult Link's walk-in animation into 'Outside Ganon's Castle' will also be very slow.
   • As such, Link will be inside the Gold Gauntlets Block.
6. Now walk into the Fairy Fountain entrance.

The strat here is that when Link enters a new area, there's a brief walking animation that plays before the player is given control of Link. The speed of Link's walk in that animation is related to his speed when exiting the previous area. By exiting the Fountain slowly, we're ensuring that Link doesn't clip out of the Gold Gauntlets Block before we can turn back into the Great Fairy Fountain (Adult's).
